Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A lovely free-blown green glass vessel with a concave base and smooth pontil, spherical body, a squat tubular neck, a funnel-form mouth, and a everted rim. The jar rests on a stable base with a shallow concave center with a smooth pontil. Applied vertical trails line the body and extend up the neck, overlapping and crossing near the base like veins. The glass itself is a semi translucent olive green hue, but over the ages the surface has developed a very beautiful rainbow iridescence across the interior and exterior which is best seen in person. Size: 3.5" Diameter x 4.5" H (8.9 cm x 11.4 cm)
