In Roman mythology, centaurs were hybrid creatures with the upper body of a man and the lower body of a horse. They were often depicted as wild and unruly, symbolizing the struggle between civilization and barbarism. While centaurs originated in Greek mythology, they were later adopted into Roman culture, appearing in art and literature. One of the most famous centaurs was Chiron, who stood apart from his kind due to his wisdom and kindness, serving as a mentor to heroes like Achilles. Roman interpretations of centaurs often emphasized their dual nature, representing both primal instincts and the potential for nobility.
