- Lot Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. This is a lovely pair of 92.9% to 93% (equivalent to 22K+) gold earrings, each one comprised of the classic hoop form: a thick wire that resolves with a tightly coiled terminus and a hook and loop closure. The original clasp is now permanently secured to the hook terminal, and modern 14K gold-plated sterling silver ear hooks have been added to make these ancient earrings fully wearable! This simple yet elegant hoop style is perfect for both dressing up and everyday wear! Size of each (both are relatively similar): 1.2" L x 0.65" Diameter (3 cm x 1.7 cm); gold quality: 92.9% to 93% (equivalent to 22K+); total weight: 2.6 grams
