Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. Sweet and petite, this beautiful green glass vessel displays the utmost artistry. Its elegant form is comprised of an ovoid body upon a disc-shaped foot with a nice pontil mark, a tubular neck rising to a flared rim, and a thick trailed handle. The body is also adorned by gracefully meandering and overlapping threadlike trails resulting in decorative ribbon-like festoons and swags. Further embellishing the piece is a hint of silvery iridescence as well! Size: 1.7" in diameter x 3" H (4.3 cm x 7.6 cm)

#138514
Condition
Intact with light deposits, mainly on the interior, and faint silvery iridescence. Nice broken pontil scar on the foot. A pontil scar or mark indicates that a vessel was free-blown, while the absence of such a mark suggests that the work was either mold-blown or that the mark was intentionally smoothed away or wore away over time.
