Europe, Switzerland, ca. 2012 CE. A Romaine Jerome luxury watch, the Steampunk Gold Chrono, the bezel is made from stabilized rusted steel from the hull of the RMS Titanic, a sapphire crystal dial face, and propeller engraving on the case back. Circular-grained and rhodium-plated dial, 18K rose gold brushed, Roman numeral XII, white lacquered counters, a rubber band, and steel buckle clasp. Compare to the Steampunk Chronograph, Gold Rusted Metal on the RJ website, reference: RJ.T.CH.SP.003.01. The watch comes in the original rose gold steel case with identification card and USB drive. Size of dial case: 1.96" Diameter (5 cm); band: 7.4" L x 0.8" W (18.8 cm x 2 cm)
Romaine Jerome (RJ) desired to stand out from other watchmakers by combining what has been described as “luxury, rarity, and unattainability.” The 1912 sinking of the RMS "Titanic" is perhaps the world's most famous and deadliest shipwreck - forever memorialized in the 1997 blockbuster of the same name. Romaine Jerome purchased a salvaged piece of the Titanic's hull inspiring the line "Titanic DNA," combining history, decay, and time.
