Richard Carboni (American, b. 1952). Untitled (A Small Marriage) mixed media and collage on paper, 1980. Signed and dated by the artist in pencil on the lower right. A mesmerizing mixed media collage composition featuring a pinwheel design comprised of folded paper wedges that have been embellished with paint, ink, and colored pencil at the bottom center with a 'dial' made from a painted twig wrapped with red twine emerging from its upper end. To the right is a blackened square adorned with painted white wedged paper forms that resemble paper airplanes. To the left is another square area that appears to feature passages of black handwriting covered with white painted bands with fiber-like elements embedded in the paint. Arching overhead is a semicircle of handmade paper. Size: 22" L x 22.25" W (55.9 cm x 56.5 cm)
