Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. A stunning mosaic glass flask comprised of mottled hues of opaque peach and translucent beige. The dazzling vessel presents a rare form with a bulbous body, rounded shoulder, and pointed base, all topped by a slender, elongated neck and flared rim. Trailed decoration of cobalt blue adorns the rim, neck and body with a circle along the rim and 4 lengthy, vertical stripes that stretch down the neck and curve onto the shoulder, forming a flower motif when viewed from above, as well as a spiraling band that encircles the body 3 times. Size: 1.8" W x 5" H (4.6 cm x 12.7 cm); 5.8" H (14.7 cm) on included custom stand.
