Ancient Central Asia, southern Azerbaijan and northern Iran, Ardabil region, ca. mid-3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A sizable, wheel-thrown pottery vessel with a planar base, an apple-shaped body, and an abstract avian-form spout projecting from one side of the shoulder and rim. The smooth surfaces exhibit a rare, light beige hue that stands in contrast to the more-common black presentation. Size: 12" W x 11.75" H (30.5 cm x 29.8 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.

Condition
Repair and restoration to part of beak, with resurfacing and small chips along new material and break lines. Minor abrasions and nicks, with a few spalls, light earthen deposits, and minor surface staining, otherwise in excellent condition. Great preservation to avian form. TL drill holes beneath base and within beaked spout. Previous inventory label beneath base.
