Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Amlash, ca. early 1st millennium BCE. An intriguing cast-bronze effigy pendant depicting a female figure standing atop petite delineated feet and with an integral suspension loop behind the head. She presents in portrait and wears a belted gown with thick pleats along the V-neck fringe, holds both arms at her sides, and has sloping shoulders that taper inward to a slender neck adorned with a faint necklace. Her stylized countenance is composed of raised teardrop-shaped eyes, a thin nose above parted lips, and large ears, all beneath a pair of characteristic elegant lobes. Fine layers of green and brown patina cover most of the figure, though abraded areas reveal the lustrous golden-brown bronze color underneath. A fine and exceedingly rare example from the ancient Amlash! Size: 1.4" W x 3.125" H (3.6 cm x 7.9 cm); 3.5" H (8.9 cm) on included custom stand.
