Egypt, early dynastic period, dynasty one or two, ca. 3100 to 2886 BCE. Lovely indurated limestone jar in squat form with rounded base and two tubular lug handles that are pierced for suspension. A flat raised rim surrounds the mouth of the jar. The jar is a lovely cream color highlighted with areas of orange-brown. A jar such as this would have held precious ointments or cosmetics. Size: 3.5" W x 2.25" H (8.9 cm x 5.7 cm)
