Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, later 18th Dynasty, reign of Thutmose IV to Amenhotep III, from the tomb of Neb-Amun (TT90) in Thebes, ca. 1401 to 1353 BCE. A stone panel fragment bearing a scene from daily life of 4 male servants, each standing abreast with their neighbor, who grasp the rope to pull a sledge. Each figure is dressed appropriately for the period - white skirts belted at the waist, bare chests exposing auburn and bronze skin tones, and simple bag wigs bearing a peach hue, their eyes pointed forward as if focusing on the task at hand, perhaps in building the tomb for Neb-Amun. A slender red band above and to the right of the figures indicates that this was the upper-rightmost section of a particular figural frame. This panel, from tomb TT90 in Thebes, belonged to an elder man named Neb-Amun (also Nebamun), Captain of Troops of Police on the West of Thebes, Standardbearer of the Royal Barque." Size (painted panel): 12" W x 11.125" H (30.5 cm x 28.3 cm); (backing): 13.5" W x 12.875" H (34.3 cm x 32.7 cm); 16.125" H (41 cm) on included custom stand.
