Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Proto-Nazca, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A beautiful textile tunic made from woven camelid fiber to display a rectangular form adorned with a central lozenge motif in hues of crimson, steel blue, maize, and aubergine. The clothing presents a rhomboid design in the middle surrounded by 3 steppe motif borders. A short fringe additionally adorns the shorter peripheries of the tunic. Professionally repaired with stitches visible down center. Some fraying and losses to peripheries and center, as well as pulls. Light staining and red and violet cloth sewn behind some areas. Otherwise, great colors and clear decorative program. Sewn to modern black cloth backing for display.
