Classical World, Eastern Mediterranean, Phoenician, ca. 1st century BCE to 3rd century CE. A wonderful necklace and earring set comprised of ancient glass and carnelian beads strung with vintage silver beads. The necklace has 10 ancient carnelian beads of barrel, tubular, and rounded shapes, with a large central black and white core-formed glass pendant bead. Vintage silver tubular and seed beads form the rest of the strand and terminate at a modern sterling silver box clasp to make this charming necklace wearable. The earrings are long with 6 and 7 ancient beads strung between 2 vintage silver disc spacer beads. Modern silver-plated hooks make these earrings wearable. The carnelian and black glass beads displayed on both the necklace and the earrings make for a very complimentary jewelry ensemble that could be worn together or separately. Nicks, chips, and losses to beads as expected with age. Light patina on silver areas. Lovely and wearable and strung in modern times with modern silver plated hooks and sterling silver clasp.
