Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fabulous pair of wearable earrings constructed from wires of 91.7% to 92.4% gold (equivalent to 22K+). Each earring features a relatively circular body with twisted terminals binding the original ear wires to the top of the bodies, and a gold foil lunate applique is displayed on the fronts of both. With a modern twisted jump ring and a modern 14K gold-plated sterling silver ear wire, this is a fine set of wearable ancient earrings! Size of each (both are relatively similar): 0.39" L x 0.39" W x 0.57" H (1 cm x 1 cm x 1.4 cm); 1.58" H (4 cm) with included ear wire; gold quality: 91.7% to 92.4% (equivalent to 22K+); total weight: 2.8 grams

Wearable as shown. Gold earrings and lunate appliques are ancient; jump rings and ear wires are modern. Both earrings and lunate appliques have minor bending to overall forms, otherwise intact and excellent. Nice luster throughout. Jump rings are modern gold-filled wire, and modern ear wires are 14K gold-plated sterling silver.
