Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 200 to 400 CE. A matching pair of hand-built pottery bowls of shallow forms featuring highly abstract killer whales within each basin. Each bowl presents with a round but stable base, a flared rim, and a shallow, white-painted basin. The killer whales bear red, orange, and dark brown stripes along their bodies as well as pectoral and dorsal fins, a forked tail, and a keyhole-shaped head with one enormous eye and rows of bared teeth. The whales are shown with one human-like arm that brandishes an attenuated spearhead. Size of each (both are relatively similar): 7" W x 2.1" H (17.8 cm x 5.3 cm)
Display stand shown in photos is for photography purposes only.

Condition
Both vessels have been well preserved and are fully intact as well as in excellent condition. Light nicks and touch-up painting to painted creatures within basin. A very charming pair.
