**Originally Listed At $300**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely pair of hand-built pottery figures, a male and a female, both shown nude and presenting thick flanks with stubbed arms and elongated heads, supported by petite feet and slightly bent legs. Each of the ancient figures features a stylized visage, comprised of a pointed, narrow nose, an open mouth, and incised, coffee bean-shaped eyes, all flanked by a pair of ear adornments and topped with a black, flat-topped coiffure. A lovely black necklace has been painted onto the chest and back of the male, while the body of the female is adorned with an intricate geometric motif, likely representing body paint. Size (of largest): 1.75" W x 3.75" H (4.4 cm x 9.5 cm)
Provenance: private southern California collection, USA, bestowed in 2006; ex-J. Malter collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired before 2006

#161132Collection labels on back of male figure. Male has proper right leg reattached with restoration over break lines, as well as proper right ear adornment repaired with adhesive visible. Both have resurfacing, nicks, and abrasions throughout, commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice with light earthen deposits in areas.Condition
