Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Manabi, Bahia culture, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A fine pair of mold-made pottery female figures. Nearly identical in all but scale, the ancient figures each display a thick body with stocky limbs, a large head, and raised breasts. Both lovely ladies wear shin-length skirts, tight-fitting necklaces, armbands, and sizeable headdresses, as they gaze forward from generously lidded eyes above a naturalistic nose with a septum adornment. Prominent ear cuffs further embellish the more petite figure, who holds her mouth open as though mid-speech or chant. Size: 3.8" W x 6.9" H (9.7 cm x 17.5 cm)

Condition
Larger repaired from several pieces with restoration, as well as losses to feet, left hand, and right side of headdress. Other figure has head reattached with some restoration near break line. Both have expected surface wear with abrasions and softening of detail, as shown. Otherwise, both are very nice with light earthen deposits.
