**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec culture, ca. 1200 to 600 BCE. A charming greenstone pendant in the form of a duck's head with hand drilled details. Two shallow circles form the eyes on either the side of the bulbous head, and a suspension hole is pierced laterally through the top. The head tapers to a rounded beak. The oblong stone is highly polished to a pleasantly smooth and lustrous surface, embellishing the stone's natural green and gray striations. In the Pre-Columbian world, ducks were viewed as sacred animals of the watery realm and the sky world, as they could both dive deep under water and fly long distances through the air. This pendant could be worn today as a lone accessory or strung with other beads! Size: 1.375" L x 0.875" W (3.5 cm x 2.2 cm)
