Western Europe, Neoclassical Period, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. A stunning ring composed of 63 to 64.5% gold (equivalent to 15K+) with a gorgeous opalescent labradorite sculpture depicting the head of Roman Hercules (Greek Herakles), one of the most famous deities in Classical history. The three-dimensional head of Hercules presents with a bushy beard and a stern facial expression, 2 faceted peridots are set into his eyes, and 2 into the eyes of the Nemean Lion pelt he wears atop his head. The back of the protruding face is set within the rectangular bezel of the ring which below features a tapered base and a thin shank. Wearable as shown. Minor nicks, abrasions, and loosening to Hercules sculpture within bezel, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to Hercules details and great luster to labradorite and peridots.
