**First Time At Auction**
Western Europe, Neoclassical Period, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful pendant of rectangular form with a setting, spiraling upper element, and suspension loop all formed from 55.04% gold. Within the intricate bezel is a vermilion-hued glass pendant featuring 2 distinct images, 1 on each side. One side of the pendant bears a left-facing intaglio of a man wearing a helmet that is surmounted by a petite dragon with a gaping mouth, perhaps representing St. George. The second side of the pendant features a carved, left-facing cameo of the Roman goddess Minerva (Greek Athena) whose Corinthian-style helmet is also topped with a petite dragon. Intriguing and fashionable!
