Native American, Southern United States, Caddo / Mississippian culture, ca. 900 to 1450 CE. A captivating necklace strung with dozens of beads in a variety of sizes, all hand-carved from either white shell or stone. Several of the larger pendant-sized beads are fragments of spiraling shells whereas most are discoid or seed form beads. A trio of green or brown stone discs are centered on the necklace and provide a pop of color. Size (necklace): 16.5" L (41.9 cm); (largest bead): 0.55" W x 0.65" H (1.4 cm x 1.7 cm)
