Ancient Near East, Early Bronze Age II to III, ca. 2900 to 2650 BCE. A wheel thrown pottery baby feeder with a stable flat base, a spherical body with a slightly carinated lower section, and a broad, flared rim surrounding the deep interior. At the sides are petite strap handles and a conical dispensing spout or nozzle protrudes from one side of the vessel for an infant to feed without spilling the vessel's contents. The exterior is covered in beige-hued slip and further adorned with thin lines in black and brown pigment that form a broad latticework pattern. Size: 5" Diameter x 4" H (12.7 cm x 10.2 cm)

Spout is repaired and reattached to vessel at the base. Abrasions and loss to exterior of rim and stable hairline fissure on rim. Nicks and chips to handles, body, rim, and spout, with fading to areas of original pigment. Light mineral and earthen deposits.
