Ancient Near East, probably Anatolia, ca. late 4th to early 3rd millennium BCE. A beautiful gathering of three hand-carved stone mace heads of solid, bulbous forms with central hafting holes drilled in the centers. First is a rounded mace head of dark gray and black hues with bulging shoulders. Second is a black stone mace head mottled with natural beige-hued veins. The largest is carved from opaque forest-green stone with broad shoulders. Each mace head exhibits incredibly smooth surface textures that create a lustrous presentation. Size of largest (green stone): 3" L x 1.4" W x 1.6" H (7.6 cm x 3.6 cm x 4.1 cm)
