Nano Lopez (Colombian, b. ) "Bobby" limited edition bronze sculpture, FC 2/4, 2020. Nano Lopez's "Bobby" is a mesmerizing bronze sculpture of an endearing elephant balancing a soccer ball on his trunk. Lopez's technique combines traditional and innovative methods. The piece was created via the traditional lost wax process that originated in ancient Greece and Rome. Once the bronze was cast, Lopez added countless details via metal chasing, applied patinas to imbue the work with vibrant colors, and finally applied several coats of UV protective lacquer to both enhance and preserve the patina. According to Nano Lopez, "The transformation from clay to bronze has always been magical to me." (artist's website) One of Lopez's most captivating designs, replete with impressive artistry and technique. Size: 5.875" L x 3" W x 5.125" H (14.9 cm x 7.6 cm x 13 cm)
