Pre-Columbian, Peru, Moche, ca. 300 to 800 CE. Quite a head-turner, this ensemble includes a beautiful necklace and matching earrings, featuring Moche turquoise, greenstone, spondylus, and carnelian seed beads. The necklace presents a bar-shaped brushed brass pendant that is lavishly adorned by 10 vertical bands of stone beads strung on 14K gold filled wire which is meticulously wrapped around the pendant and secured through a tiny perforation at either end. Linked to each terminal is a band of horizontally set stone beads. All is set on a lovely 14K gold filled chain with passages of coordinating stone beads that lie behind the neck and flank the 14K gold filled clasp. Each earring presents a vertical brushed brass bar to match the pendant (only oriented vertically as opposed to horizontally), with horizontal bands of stone beads threaded on 14K gold filled wire, and a vertical passage of coordinating stone beads above that links to a 14K gold filled French hook. Size: pendant and danglers 2" L x .375" W (5.1 cm x 1 cm); necklace 18" L (45.7 cm) + 2" L (5.1 cm) pendant; earrings 2.875" L (7.3 cm) including hooks. Total weight: 9.7 grams.
