Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, ca. 100 to 800 CE. A beautiful necklace constructed with dozens of Spondylus shell beads in hues of crimson, vermilion, citrine, khaki, beige, coral, tan, burnt ochre, caramel, and chocolate. The necklace strand is strung with petite seed-form beads that gradually increase in size towards the center of the composition, with a few rectangular beads interspersed throughout. A pair of stylized avian-form pendants grace either side of the middle and draped in the center is a lengthy rectangular pendant. An attractive and stylish accessory made wearable with modern stringing. Size (necklace): 28.75" L (73 cm); (central pendant): 0.45" W x 1.09" H (1.1 cm x 2.8 cm)

Wearable as shown and strung in modern times. Spondylus shell beads and pendants are ancient; stringing is modern. Minor nicks and pitting to some beads, otherwise intact and very good. Nice coloration to beads. Please note that necklace stringing is tied on the back and is not adjustable.
