Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche, Phase II, ca. 250 to 400 CE. A charming pottery vessel presenting a flat base and spherical body topped with a high arching stirrup spout and a petite figure in a hut. Adorned in hues of red and beige, the body of the vessel is embellished by a pattern of abstract square motifs arranged in a horizontal band. Just above the band is the small hut, displaying a slanted roof and large window from which the figure gazes. The fascinating figure displays almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, and an incised mouth. Size: 8.5" in diameter x 8.625" H (21.6 cm x 21.9 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.

Condition
TL holes to base and underside of roof. Chip to corner of roof. Some abrasions, nicks, and scratches throughout, commensurate with age. Otherwise, excellent with nice remaining pigments.
