Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Huari, ca. 500 to 800 CE. An interesting pair of hand-carved turquoise figures of squat, stylized forms. One figure is carved from mottled blue and green stone, perhaps turquoise, and the other from sage green stone. Both figures present with attenuated legs, attractive tunics, and bulbous heads with almond eyes and prominent noses. The blue-green figure has pursed lips beneath his simple cap, and the taller figure has a whistling mouth beneath a cap incised with linear motifs. Size of largest figure (sage green): 0.76" W x 1.28" H (1.9 cm x 3.3 cm)

Condition
Professionally cleaned and lightly polished to reveal stone coloration and luster. Retooling to some finer details in modern times. Both figures have minor abrasions, otherwise intact and very good. Nice preservation to overall forms.
