Greek, Magna Graecia, Italic colony of Apulia, Xenon style, ca. 300 BCE. This fine Greek ceramic is offered in our Exceptional Sale despite its relative low price. To me, and I know many like-minded collectors, a miniature can be every bit as exceptional as a "full sized" object. This little masterpiece was created in the same proportions as was the original full-sized example. Kantharos, twin-handled deep bowled wine cup on short conical foot, bulbous midsection and handles to each side raising above the rim of the vessel. Size: 2.25" W x 2" H (5.7 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: private Thousand Oaks, California, USA collection, acquired June 2, 2000; ex-Time & Again
