Pre-Columbian, Maya, Copador, ca. 550 to 900 CE. A beautiful pottery bowl of hemispherical form with a rounded base and annular rim, all skillfully adorned in orange, red, and black pigments. The ancient vessel is elaborately painted on its exterior, presenting a complex decorative program of abstract designs, including floral motifs, parallel striations, circular shapes, spiraling forms, and undulating lines. Alternatively, the interior exhibits a thick orange band around the rim followed by a slender band and ring of dots. Size: 9.9" in diameter x 4.1" H (25.1 cm x 10.4 cm)

Some stable hairline fissures to interior and base. Chips to interior. Expected scratches, nicks, and abrasions throughout, commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice with impressive remaining pigments.
