Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Sinu, ca. 1000 to 1550 CE. A beautiful and wearable necklace strung on modern black cord with 130 high-quality, high-karat gold beads and jaguar claws - the gold purity ranges from 65% to 90%, with an average of about 80% pure gold! The ends feature flaring high-karat trumpet-shaped beads with spirals and rope designs, followed by an attached double-stacked bead and two long, heavy tubular beads with broadened ends and openwork spirals. Approximately 82 finely cast ring-shaped beads are positioned along the necklace, interspersed with 22 individually cast, heavy gold jaguar claws, each separated by small gold spacer beads. Necklace is adjustable, ranging in size from 24" L (61 cm) to 28" L (71.1 cm); longest beads measuring 3.625" L (9.2 cm); gold quality: 65% to 90% (equivalent to 15K+ to 21K+); weight: 296.9 grams.
This necklace has been extensively tested using XRF technology and results are consistent with gold from this region and of the stated age. Other metals present are silver and small amounts of iron.
