Native American, Western United States, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Oregon, and Texas, Late Paleo to Late Archaic periods, ca. 9500 to 800 BCE (11,500 to 2,800 BP). A fantastic ensemble of 20 hand-knapped stone arrowheads boasting hues of sienna, auburn, caramel, butterscotch, ash grey, cream, taupe, black, and white. Presenting varying forms of lanceolate, stemmed lanceolate, auriculate lanceolate, triangular stemmed, and ovoid, these impressive points are of varying types, such as Lind Coulee, Gypsum Cave, Goshen, Silver Lake, Hell Gap, Escobas, Bat Cave, Rio Grande, Owl Dave, Cascade, Agate Basin, Alberta, and Pryor. Size of largest: 1.5" W x 3" H (3.8 cm x 7.6 cm); Size of frame: 7.875" W x 12" H (20 cm x 30.5 cm)
Knapped lithics, like these examples, are made using percussion, striking them with other stones; the process required to get them the correct shape requires training and skill.
Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Charles (Charlie) Meyer collection, noted collector and famed illustrator for Greg Perino, famed authenticator and writer.
