Pre-Columbian, Columbia, Tairona, ca. 1000 to 1300 CE. A pair of exquisite necklaces comprised of dozens of hand-polished, hand-cut, and hand-drilled carnelian beads, One strand features a central abstract zoomorphic bead and 12 bullet-shaped beads (culturally specific to the Tairona peoples), all spaced by balanced groupings of alternating rounded and cylindrical carnelian as well as disc-shaped white shell beads. Finally, the back of the necklace is comprised of numerous rounded beads. Paired with this necklace is an other strand of carnelian beads - tubular alternating with rounded disc-shaped beads - and at the center, a large lozenge-shaped pendant bead suspended from a trio comprised of a short tubular bead followed by two petite round beads. In addition to these gorgeous designs, the carnelian beads present with beautiful coloration in rich red and orange hues. Both are lovely and absolutely wearable! Condition
Both necklaces are wearable as shown. Carnelian beads are ancient, and stringing is modern. Minor nicks to some beads, with stable hairline fissures on a few beads, otherwise intact and very good. Great luster throughout.
