United States. Warner Bros. Production Cels. ca. mid 20th century. A charming framed pair of animation cels depicting everyone's favorite arch rivals, Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner, playing tennis. This endearing duo of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies characters was a constant source of laughter and entertainment during the 20th century and beyond. Created in 1948 for Warner Brothers, Wile E. Coyote was always up to no good and the Road Runner was always too swift - "meep, meep" - and smart to escape Wile E's nefarious ways. Of course, Wile E. is a play on the adverb "wily" meaning gaining an advantage, especially in a deceitful, sneaky way. In the cartoons, the coyote always tried to catch the impossibly speedy bird who time and time again outran and outsmarted him. A fabulous framed pair of pendant animation cels, perfect for any fan of Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies as well as anyone who may enjoy this trip down memory lane! Size of visible cels: 10.25" W x 8" H (26 cm x 20.3 cm) Size of frame: 28.5" W x 14" H (72.4 cm x 35.6 cm)
