Europe, Continental, ca. 19th century CE. A delightful hand-carved ivory carving of a gentleman in 17th-century dress featuring a ruff collar, a broad-brimmed hat, a doublet, breeches, and boots. Perhaps once adorning a handle, his face features a musketeer beard with a full moustache and trimmed goatee as he looks up to his right, grasping for his sword at his side as though ready step forth and shout "En garde!"
