Likely North America, Southwestern United States, Arizona, Late Triassic, ca. 225 million years ago. A massive fossilized/petrified tree trunk segment, featuring a knob where a branch once emerged. The bark retains a unique bumpy texture, which could help identify the prehistoric species. Unlike cut and polished specimens that highlight vivid colors, this piece remains in its natural state, offering a glimpse of how it would have appeared when originally discovered. The interior exhibits a marbled white and gray pattern. Notably, this specimen likely separated naturally from a larger trunk due to erosion or seismic activity, rather than being cut. Although petrified wood resembles stone, its internal structure and brittleness from the mineralization process, combined with weathering and stress, make it prone to snapping cleanly when pressure is applied! Size: 16" L x 15" W x 21" H (40.6 cm x 38.1 cm x 53.3 cm)
