Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 14th to 16th century CE. A robust hand-built pottery jar covered in a thick glaze in mottled hues of brown ranging from caramel to espresso. The vessel features high tapered shoulders, a brief neck, and a rolled rim. Its neck is surrounded by 4 petite lug handles. Glaze was allowed to drip over the vessel freely, creating a drip effect around the vessel's base. Repaired from a few large pieces with restoration. Losses to 2 handles. Nicks, chips, and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, nice with lovely earthen deposits.
