Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 14th to 16th century CE. A large and loosely glazed hand-built pottery bowl of a light blue-green hue with a wide basin set atop a flat discoidal foot. The bowl’s walls expansively flare outwards creating a wide basin. The light cream hue of its buffware is visible through the translucent glazing that is nicely accented by a light craquelure throughout. Though almost perfectly spherical, the bowl has human touch element to it – making it slightly asymmetrical in presentation. If perfect sounds boring to you, this may just be the piece to intrigue you! Size: 12.5" in diameter x 5" H (31.8 cm x 12.7 cm)
