Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine, hand-built pottery figure known as a "gingerbread" figure due to the flat presentation of the body. Displaying an hourglass form with wide hips and square shoulders, the ancient figure stands with knees slightly bent and arms resting parallel to the body. She wears a knee-length skirt, a lone armband, a necklace, a septum ring, annular earspools, and an intricate headdress that towers over her minimalist visage, comprised of incised eyes, a pinched nose, and a straight mouth. Size: 5.3" W x 9.6" H (13.5 cm x 24.4 cm)
