**Originally Listed At $450**
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque) culture, ca. 500 CE. A lovely pottery musician figure standing atop delineated legs and wearing a lengthy waist band. The figure holds a three-pipe pan flute with bent arms adorned with segmented wrist and arm bands, and elaborate earring flank the sides of the head. Almond-shaped eyes, a prominent aquiline nose, and full lips comprise the stylized visage, and the elaborate headdress is bedecked in applied floral motifs and broad, curving lateral panels. Traces of orange and blue-green pigment are visible across the flautist in characteristic Jamacoaque style and suggests the figure was at one time adorned with vivid pigment. Size: 4.25" W x 6.3" H (10.8 cm x 16 cm).
