Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery figure in a seated pose with conical legs stretched out in front of the bulky body. Both shoulders are adorned with groups of ritual scarification pellets, and the figure holds one arm up to a petite mouth and broad mandible. The elongated head features impressed eyes flanking a perky nose, tab-shaped ears, and a bicorn helmet with incised vertical striations. Size: 2.84" W x 5.31" H (7.2 cm x 13.5 cm)

Condition
Restoration to both horns on helmet, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Minor abrasions and fading to pigment, and light encrustations within some recessed areas. Nice preservation to overall form and most pigment.
