Ancient Seas, Indonesia, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years ago. This is a gorgeous, fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark, with a polished enamel and matte root. The tooth has lovely light beige and warm sienna hues which naturally formed during the fossilization process due to the minerals and chemicals present in the sediment and water, and lighter red and tan colors often occur in teeth from Indonesia due to surrounding limestone deposits. The obverse is highly polished to a glassy surface, revealing the warm brown tones under the creamy beige enamel and the verso is unpolished and naturally lustrous. A wonderful tooth from one of the ancient seas' most ferocious hunters that still strikes fear today! Size: 4.48" L x 3.15" W (11.4 cm x 8 cm)
