Northern Europe, Denmark, Orupgard, Viking, ca. 10th century CE. A stunning and quite substantive silver bracelet - comprised of almost pure silver (98% silver) - presenting a mesmerizing decorative program of incised abstract, nested, branch or wave motifs that are further adorned by stamped concentric circles and hammered dotted patterns surrounding a central section comprised of three bands of applied pellets on the broad outer face which eventually narrows at the back to a slender section decorated with an interweaving band further adorned by a stamped circular motif. Weight: 181.6 grams Size: 3.125" in diameter (7.9 cm); front face measures ~.25" W x 1.7" H (8.3 cm x 4.3 cm)
The Vikings hoarded precious metals, especially silver, to a great degree; for example, in Viking Scotland alone, we know of thirty-one Viking age hoards containing silver - and those are just the ones we know about - while Viking Ireland has nearly double that!
This bracelet is particularly unusual in that it is not of a pennanular form, but rather continues all the way around the wrist. See a similar example in a recovered silver hoard from Terslev featured on the National Museum of Denmark's website - https://en.natmus.dk/historical-knowledge/denmark/prehistoric-period-until-1050-ad/the-viking-age/the-silver-hoards-of-the-vikings/the-silver-hoard-from-terslev/
