Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan/Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A wonderful, wheel-thrown pottery jar presenting a squat, circular body with a wide hip, a sloped shoulder, a corseted neck, and a flared rim, all sitting upon a flat base. The ancient vessel is skillfully adorned with a black-on-cream decorative program along its shoulder, featuring concentric squares, lattice patterns, and checkered motifs, all flanked by a pair of horizontal bands above and below. Size: 6.2" in diameter x 2.9" H (15.7 cm x 7.4 cm)

Condition
Repaired from several large pieces with restoration over some break lines and other break lines visible. Expected surface wear with nicks, chips, and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice with impressive remaining pigments and rich earthen deposits on interior.
