Pre-Columbian, south coast Peru, Lima area, Ica culture, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A wonderful mold-made pottery vessel in the form of a house with a bulbous body, conical neck, and circular rim, all sitting upon a planar base. Adorned in hues of burnt orange, cream, and black, the fascinating vessel features a roof at its top with the spout serving as a chimney. Below the roof is an erotic relief image of 2 figures copulating on either side, both surrounded by a starburst motif of elaborate detail. The area between the scenes is adorned with more relief decoration of a children with animals, such as lizards and monkeys. These intriguing images are intended to depict the events of Ica daily life within a household. Size: 5.125" in diameter x 7.125" H (13 cm x 18.1 cm)

Repair and restoration to spout. Chip to rim. Some nicks, abrasions, fading to pigments, and softening of detail as shown. Otherwise, excellent with lovely earthen deposits throughout and nice remaining pigments.
