<i>This lot is oversized / heavy and may require 3rd party shipping - please inquire before bidding. </i><br><br>Ancient Seas, late Miocene to late Pleistocene, ca. 5 million to 180,000 years old. A massive shell fossil from the Tridacna genus, this extraordinary specimen represents one of the largest known bivalve species to have ever existed. Tridacna clams, often referred to as "giant clams," have been part of the Earth’s marine ecosystem for millions of years. When alive, these clams thrived among coral reefs in shallow waters and are often found in limestone quarries today. Highly prized by collectors for their size and preservation, giant clam shells have been utilized in various cultures throughout history. Today, some enthusiasts repurpose these impressive fossils as striking and luxurious bathroom sinks! Size: 38" L x 22" W x 15" H (96.5 cm x 55.9 cm x 38.1 cm)

Chips and losses to the layers of the high pointed fold tips. Natural pitting and ossification to the shell. Overall great condition and hefty! Mineral and dirt deposits on the surface, and this may have been displayed outside for a period of time.
