Oceania, Solomon Islands, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A wooden paddle club of a simple yet elegant form, with a wide paddle end that is bisected by a raised rib and resolves in a pointed terminal. The wood is polished to a matte sheen. Solomon Island war clubs vary in form and style depending on their region of origin. In addition to being war clubs, they are collectible for their undeniable beauty. In fact, not all Solomon Island clubs were intended for fighting at all; many were created for strictly ceremonial uses. Size: 45.625" L x 3.25" W (115.9 cm x 8.3 cm); 48.125" H (122.2 cm) on included custom stand.
