Jim Mark Borgman (American, born Feb. 24, 1954), Hillary Rodham Clinton cartoon created for Cincinnati Enquirer, 1996 CE. A witty political cartoon by American cartoonist Jim Borgman, perhaps best known for his nationally syndicated comic strip "Zits," a beloved collaboration between himself as cartoonist and writer Jerry Scott about a teenager. This Hillary Clinton cartoon was hand colored with watercolor over a printed matrix. It presents six caricature depictions of Hillary Clinton who was the 1st Lady of the United States at the time and inspired quite a bit of controversy, wonderful material for political satire. The cartoon is dated 1996, a campaign year for the Clintons. Underneath each image of the 1st Lady donning a different, comical hairstyle, outfit, and accessories is a caption; they read as follows, "The TWO-FOR-ONE CO-PRESIDENT LOOK"; "The SECRETARY OF HEALTHCARE LOOK"; "The LUCKY-IN-COMMODITIES LOOK"; "The FILES? WHAT FILES? LOOK"; "The HELL-TO-PAY LOOK"; and "The D'AMATOed LOOK". This cartoon was created for the Cincinnati Enquirer; however, it was not actually used. Quite a fun and topical piece! Size: 5.75" L x 8.625" W (14.6 cm x 21.9 cm)
Borgman has achieved quite a bit of recognition for his work. Borgman's honors include a Pulitzer Prize awarded in 1991, the National Cartoonist Society Editorial Cartoon Award in 1986, 1987, 1988, 1994, and 2006. Borgman also won the National Cartoonist Society Newspaper Comic Strip (with Jerry Scott) for Zits in 1998 and 1999 and their Reuben Award in 1993. In addition, Borgman won the Reuben Award for editorial cartooning in 2006.
