**Originally Listed At $400**
Ancient Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 4th to 3rd century BCE. In a word, WOW! A glistening 85% gold button (equivalent to 20K+), so elaborately decorated with granulation to present a mesmerizing motif that may be interpreted as either stellar or floral. At the very center is a large gold granule. Eight filigreed and granulated inverted piriform rays or petals layered in clusters of four points or petals surround it. Next are eleven embossed petaloid or stellar motifs, and flanking the point of each are two openwork perforations; twenty two in total. On the verso is a gold sheet loop for attaching. Given this level of opulence, one can just imagine the garment for which this button was created! Size: 0.3" deep (including loop) x .75" in diameter (0.8 cm x 1.9 cm); gold quality: 85% (equivalent to 20K+); total weight: 4.8 grams

Button shows minor bending to form and slight indentations here and there, but otherwise is excellent overall. Minor indentations to the loop, but it is still open and functional. Simply stunning!
