Ancient Greece, Archaic Period, ca. 6th century BCE. A fine hollow-cast bronze figurine depicting a recumbent goat with a bulbous body, four tucked legs, a petite curled tail, and a strong neck. The stylized, right-facing head is defined by a tapering snout, a curved beard, perky ears, and a pair of arching horns. The hollow interior of the animal is lined with lead, thus weighing it down for stabilization. The exterior is enveloped in layers of smooth green and russet patina, making this an attractive statuette from ancient Greece! Custom museum-quality display stand included. Size: 3.125" L x 1.125" W x 2.25" H (7.9 cm x 2.9 cm x 5.7 cm); 3" H (7.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Small area of restoration on top of snout. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, fading to finer features along body and face, with some light roughness across most surfaces. A small pin through the back likely meant as an anchor for lead base. Nice green and russet patina throughout.
